Manuel began his professional career as chief of staff at the Pension Fund Administrators Superintendency and then served as an assistant attorney in the Constitutional Court. That public experience was later supplemented by work as an associate attorney at Sandler, Travis & Rosernber P.A. in Washington D.C. and at Herbert, Smith & Freehills in London. He held the same position at Aylwin Abogados, before becoming a partner at Aylwin y Compañía.
Bachelor of Social Sciences in Law (J.D.), Universidad de Chile Law School (Summa Cum Laude). Post graduate degree in economics and finance for lawyers at Universidad de Chile and Georgetown University, 2003.
Master in Law (LL.M.), California University – Berkeley. Manuel also holds a Certificate in American Law from the University of California – Davis and a Degree in Law and Competition Policy from Universidad de Chile Law School.
Manuel has been professor at the Judicial Academy; of Administrative Law and State Responsibility at Universidad de Chile Law School; and, of the Global Administrative Law Degree at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Law School. Currently, he is a professor of the Environment and Sustainable Development Degree at the same Law School. Manuel is a Fulbright scholar and a member of the Ethics Tribunal of the Chilean Bar Association.
